A New Impression

About six years ago I went to London. My first impression of it was not very good. My friends and I arrived to a crowded, smelly airport and took the tube to our small dingy hostel. After we arrived, we walked around aimlessly through the streets looking for an affordable restaurant. Without any luck, we settled for sandwiches from a convenience store and enjoyed them on a bench in an empty park. The next day, we were off to Europe to begin our tour. That was the last of London I would ever see…..so I thought.

So with my husband’s job relocation, I certainly wasn’t too excited about moving to London. However, after our five day reconnasaince trip from April 7-12, it’s left a different impression on me. I’m actually excited to return!

My thoughts on London now:

-Sizeable taxis large enough to fit a stroller

-Food is actually decent, don’t listen to the rumors. We had good Korean and Japanese food!

-Clean streets and beautiful parks. There are so many places I can take Lucas to visit.

-Beautiful buildings

-Nice British people especially the doorman, Jim, who we met at the Atheneaum Hotel where we stayed

-Not ‘always’ gloomy and foggy. I saw that it was possible to have nice, sunny, and warm weather with temps at 60-70 while we were there.
Well, I guess that’s a start. At least London and I were able to start on a new foot. I hope we can be good friends in the next year. I will really miss my dear sunny California.
